Toronto became the capital of the province of Ontario after it’s official creation in 1867. It has a recorded population of over 2.7 million in 2021, making Toronto the most populous city in Canada, and forth in North America.
Toronto is a major centre for music, theatre, motion picture production, and television production, and is home to the headquarters of Canada’s major national broadcast networks and media outlets.
Toronto is also home to headquarters of Canada’s Major Baseball League team Toronto Blue Jays, National Hockey Team Toronto Maple Leafs, and National Basketball Team Toronto Raptors.
